Chemistry is a science concerned primarily with the composition, structure, and properties of matter, as well as the changes that matter experiences during reactions.

If you enjoy working in a laboratory and interacting with other people, this could be an ideal career for you. Work is available in many different industries including pharmaceutical, plastics, paper, automotive or food production.

You will work closely with chemists, chemical engineers, and technical specialists. Use your laboratory skills to test and communicate information in areas such as quality control, pollution, and research and development. Chemistry is a field with a vast range of possible career options and jobs are plentiful.

According to the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC), "...Elements can be named after a mythological concept, a mineral, a place or country, a property, or a scientist".
The most abundant element in the universe is hydrogen, making up nearly 75 percent of all matter.
Helium is the second most abundant element, making up nearly 25 percent. Oxygen is the third most abundant element in the universe.
Most of the human body is made up of water, H2O, with cells consisting of 65-90% water by weight.
Most of a human body's mass is oxygen.
Carbon, the basic unit for organic molecules, creates the second highest percentage of body mass.
Ninety-nine percent of the mass of the human body is made up of just six elements:
- Oxygen
- Carbon
- Hydrogen
- Nitrogen
- Calcium
- Phosphorus
